As a preservation breeder of the Lakeland terrier, we will only offer service to those females that are sound in mind and body who fit the breed standard.
If we feel it is not a fit, we will refuse service. We only want the best for our dogs and their families. It's not personal.
Although Lakeland Terriers are healthy and long lived (15-17 years average life span), there are no required tests by the OFA. However, at a minimum, conscientious breeders will check for heart murmurs, luxating Patellas and any eye issues. It is prudent to check hips at 2 years of age, but not a stringent requirement for the breed.
